Tourism is one of the most important economic activities and sources of employment in the County, although its tourist attractions are based more on natural resources than on defined tourist destinations. During 2003, 935 354 overnight stays were recorded, of which 86.4% were those of foreign tourists. The average length of stay for tourists in the region during 2003 was 3.8 days.

Agriculture makes up approximately 2.3% of the economy in the LSC, and provided employment for 4074 people in 2003. In that same year, the total number of farms in the agriculture industry was 4074, largely made up of family farms whose primary economic activity is agriculture, with only 5 of them being registered as legal entities.
