In the Licko-senjska County, the total amount of state-owned land which is gradually becoming overgrown into forests is 306 750 ha, while the amount on privately owned land is 14 199 ha. State-owned forests cover 371 396 ha of the County.

Tourism

Tourism is one of the most important economic activities and sources of employment in the County, although its tourist attractions are based more on natural resources than on defined tourist destinations. During 2003, 935 354 overnight stays were recorded, of which 86.4% were those of foreign tourists. The average length of stay for tourists in the region during 2003 was 3.8 days.

Agriculture makes up approximately 2.3% of the economy in the LSC, and provided employment for 4074 people in 2003. In that same year, the total number of farms in the agriculture industry was 4074, largely made up of family farms whose primary economic activity is agriculture, with only 5 of them being registered as legal entities.

According to statistics from the State Bureau of Statistics, 471 corporations and 1341 small businesses were active in the County in 2003, and their number is increasing at approximately 3% annually. The total revenue generated by these corporations in 2003 was 1 583 579 000 HRK, or 0.3% of the total revenue generated in Croatia that year.

The Licko-Senjska County (LSC) is divided into 4 cities and 8 townships, with a total population of 53 677 people. As a result of difficult social and economic problems in the County, the last few decades have been marked by population emigration. Casualties and migration as a result of the Homeland War have additionally hurt the demographic state of the County.
